I was an A&P mechanic for 21 years and also an Aerial Application Specialist (crop duster) for just as long.   When my partner retired we sold the entire business.

Mike;
Where did you work and what did you work on?

As you might have guessed from my earlier post I worked for myself.   I was a crop duster working for the company I was partnered up with another guy in.   I was the only one with an A&P so maintenance was my responsibility.   I had a friend who took care of our I/A work when I need inspections and things signed off.
I worked on all kinds of general aviation aircraft but mostly on the spray planes and helicopter we operated.  We had a couple turboprop sprayers with Lycombing engines and numerous other spray planes with radial engines.  Pratt & Whitney R985 and 1340s mostly.   By the time we sold the business I was so tired of both flying the planes and working on them too that I have not even been inside an aircraft of any kind  since we quit.   We sold out in 1999.

Kinda figured that, lol! Your boss might have been an a@#&*#! but at least you knew how to handle him.... L@J
I walked away from my business a year and a half ago because one of my partners (the controlling one) was making bad decisions that were driving away life-long customers and ruining my reputation with them in the process. And he was driving us into the poorhouse at the same time. Best decision I ever made. My other partner left a month later for the same reasons....

Glad you could stick with it in the aviation business.   I had a gut full and walked away.

I can relate.  My retirement fund disappeared after the market crash post 9/11.
