Colts with square back trigger guards?
« on: June 08, 2015, 02:57:27 PM »
I guess this will fit here....Just wondering about different models of Colts with square back trigger guards. I can think of some: Walker, 1st and 2nd Dragoons, 1st and 2nd 1851s. Were there others as well? I have a Walker and 2nd Mdl. Dragoon with the square back TGs.

I also have a Walker and 2nd Dragoon.   The '51 Navy is the only other one I am aware of with a square back trigger guard.   I've kind of been keeping my eye out for a square back '51.    I'll bet Fingers or Strawhat can fill us in the square backs.   Scooby too but I bet he's out living the dream right now.

My 2nd Dragoon and baby Dragoon are the only ones I own with a squareback at the moment.
I love the way they look.

In addition to the ones you have listed, the 1848 .31 Caliber Baby Dragoons and the 1849 Wells Fargo Models had square back trigger guards.

I am not sure about originals but Uberti made at least one 1861 with the square back guard.

Guys, check out the '51 Navies topic. I should probably have posted here instead. Fingers, (or any mod) feel free to move it if you think it would be better here.

Hmmmmm.....oh yeah, kinda forgot. Just wanted some other input. Also, I don't know if I know how to do that!  I thought I remembered the '48s had a square back guard, but the one I have doesn't have one.

1) Modify (upper right of post)
2) Attachments and other options (underneath text box)
3) Check MOVE TOPIC box
4) Move it.
Easy-peasy!
Actually, I think it's fine right here, as you are "asking the experts".

The Pocket Framed Colts had the square backed guards also.

(Okay, the attachment is too large, imagine a little Colt with a 6" barrel and a square backed guard, and a second one but without the loading lever.)

See that is what happens when you get mad and quit Photobucket.   The only reason I still have a Photobucket account is for attaching pics on this forum.   Seems all pics are too large here.
I can see the revolvers clearly in my head though,  nice little pieces of iron.

You can resize your photos on Photobucket and save them to a size that's more appropriate for this format.

I don't have to resize when using Photobucket.  I can resize and post on my computer but it's easier from Photobucket except for the fact it takes so damn long.
