Seamus
« on: July 20, 2015, 03:53:37 AM »
Thought this a good a spot as any to introduce Seamus to the community.

Twelve weeks old (July 20) and full of energy and mischief.  Needs to be guided, just as my folks guided me.  There is a six year old Golden mix to show him the way.

Puppies are fun,  and a lot of work.   Nice to have an older dog to serve as an example.   Seamus will learn fast with a mentor.
He looks pretty laid back in the photos but I'm sure the pictures are deceiving.

Welcome to Colt Country, Seamus! Can he be our official mascot, Straw Hat?

I doubt he would hold still long enough to be a mascot.  Perhaps there are other members who have better behaved dogs that would be better qualified?

My two dogs can hold still quite well but only because they are old worn out and lazy.  Youth and enthusiasm would good traits for a mascot.    Pretty much the opposite of some of us.

Well, Seamus is now a bit over 7 months old and is actually learning a bit.  Some from Herself and me, more from Sonny, the little guy in this photo.  When they first met, Sonny was the larger of the two by a couple of inches.  He is still the "big dog" and let's Seamus know it when necessary.

They look like quite a pair.   Seamus has grown up a lot since last posting.
My two dogs are getting up there in age,  13 and 12 years old now.   I 'm dreading the day I lose either one but they have been wonderful friends for a long time.    It appears you have many years of enjoyment ahead of you with those two.

Thanks Mike, they should be around for a while, or I am hoping that.  We try to stagger the ages of our dogs, on older and one younger.  That way we always have one learning and one teaching.  It helps with some continuity and unless something very drastic happens, means we will always have at least one dog.  And that helps when the inevitable happens and a dog heads out to be with our ancestors.  Herself and I have buried three dogs, in our garden beds, where they will be watched over as long as we are alive.  Hopefully, we will add a few before they greet us with wagging tails and lolling tongues wanting to be petted and played with and taken on long walks.

Animals have a way of working their way into your heart. We only have one dog and he is getting up in age, doesn't see well and is hard of hearing. He is getting a little demanding in his need for snuggling on our laps. We are both dreading the time when he leaves us, as he gives unconditional love; and is a great blood pressure reducer!

Nice pair o' pups.

Thank you, they eat a lot like teenagers, constantly, if we'd let them.

Been feeding the one for a couple of months, the other one for about 5 years.  As long as they want to stay, they are welcome.  Ever since we were married, dogs have been a part of our life together.  We both had dogs before and saw no reason not to include them in our family.
