You folks have me jealous as all get out! I love all of the pictures. In my old age I am now interested in C&B revolvers. I have 3. Not so years ago.

I guess I should have specialized earlier, eh?

Those are what I like to call American Ivory, smooth elk stag grips.  I can not afford the African stuff but when I worked in Arizona, I found two shed antlers.  I have used them to stock a couple of revolvers.

Thanks Kevin ! The Pocket Police definitely looks better to me with a plain cylinder. I must admit that the fluted cylinder suits the Pocket Navy too. Maybe I'll have to buy another two so I can switch their cylinders too...

Looking at the photo of the Pocket Police with the Navy cylinder, without anything for scale, it looks like an 1860.  I will get one of the 1860s out and take a photo of the pairing.

The 1861 Navy and 1862 Pocket Police use scaled down versions of the 1860 barrel. The 1861 uses 1851 grips and frame, while the 1862 uses 1849 grips and frame.  Another instance where size matters in fact...

Two differences catch my eyes (size notwithstanding) : the shape of the grips, and the front sight.
Still, the Police Pocket looks good with that plain cylinder. I can't see why Colt didn't make it that way.

The sight on the little one is merely a pin pushed in place.  The 1860 has a pressed in barleycorn.  I will look at my other Police Models and see if they all have pins.

I agree, they were made concurrent with the little Navy revolver, I would be amazed if they did not let at least one out the door with the "wrong" cylinder in place.  The more I look at it, the more I like it.  I may actually pick up a couple of Pocket Navy cylinders and build a pair of fantasy revolvers.

I have not changed the cylinder in the pocket Navy back to the half fluted style.  Nor have I changed my opinion of the merger, I really like it.
