I would like to post pictures, but can't on this forum. *^%
I can post pictures just fine on the 1858 Remington sister forum.
Puzzled. :(

I do have a Photobucket account, but can the photos be resized

I'm asking Capt Kirk what the difference between the two forums are is.

Hi Hewy, just give it a try. Worst that can happen is that the photos show large, a good thing. I am sitting here holding my breath to see your new Uberti 1862 Police. Post your photos so I can breath again.  )lI

Richard

Range report.....first I got to welcome myself to the CCSS  ,( Colt cap sucking society ) and loving it.
The 1862 was loaded with real black powder about 18 gr and .375 balls. After finding the target
out at 25 ft, the actual hit was about 4" off POA, right and low. Recoil from that little revolver
Was so light, I think it was shooter error, cause it was so easy and smooth. Fun Fun. Shoot
pick a cap , and repeat.  (*3
I'm not into shooting paper for group size anyway, prefer hitting cans and other such things.
Good day out in the California sun with my friends.
Hewy out.

Sounds great. Try it at a farther distance and see if it hits higher. Or .380 balls or conicals may hit higher.

My next load will 20grs. .380 just might be the thing as no shave ring with .375.
Abd move out to 12 yards. Good tip LP.

Hi Hewy,   .380 round balls will perform better for you in the Uberti guns.    I can drop a .375 rb into the chamber on my Police model and push it in with my finger.   20 grains Goex and a lubed wad with a .380 rb has mine shooting just right at 25 yards.

Hi Hewy, glad to learn that you are out shooting your new 1862 and having fun. How often did you have a cap removal issue? Before I filled in the hammer slot of my 1862 with silver solder I would have a cap problem after each shot. Some cap parts would fall into the action where I needed to disassemble the revolver to remove the cap part. Filling in the slot now only has whole caps sometimes fall between the hammer and frame, but that doesn't occur very often.

Your next project is to set the arbor length to create a reproduceable cylinder to barrel gap, see:

Richard

Richard. Only a few caps got stuck, but not down in action. I was aware of caps jamming,
thee Remingtons #10  casessplit in three to four places like wings on a bug, so I just picked them out .
A closer look at the cylinder revealed the cylinder chambers are chamfered , therefore there
won't be a lead ring shaved off the ball as I mentioned in post to LP.
Did notice a gap difference, I'll do the brass washer fix.

This is what ssb73q Richard said ":Having said that, I love those damn little things, fondle them, and have become a microColt pervert.  (7+" (7+"

Richard

I'm in total agreement.
