A lot of Nazi war criminals fled to Argentina.
I think that is an non-argumentable point.
Hitler died in the bunker with Eva and Blondi.
I don't believe that at all (well, maybe Eva Braun and Blondi: extra baggage).
Supposedly, Hitler's remains were brought outside of the bunker and burned. Easily found by the Soviets. One would think they would have paraded this around, but that is not the case.
The Nazis were in South America long before the War. They always had a philosophy to have a plan to endure, no matter where. They looted much gold and many treasures from banks and museums in Europe (and elsewhere) to continue with their venue. They even had bank accounts in supposedly "neutral" Switzerland (Die Schweitz) during and far after the War.
Even if Hitler survived the War for a few years, he was not the only Nazi to embrace the ideals of National Socialism to the bitter end, no matter where and when that might be. Mengele, Bohrmann, and Eichmann were just the tip of the iceberg.
I agree that the History Channel takes liberties in all of its shows. It is almost like ancient mythology: there is a kernel or two of truth at the beginning that spreads into folklore.
"Hunting Hitler" has uncovered many very interesting items, but my problem with the Villa Baviera show has to do with how a camera/sound crew can record findings of the team(s) going unnoticed by anyone in the area. That is a stretch unless there is some complicity there, to include their very eager guide and the "resort's" personnel.
I will continue to watch the show, but I sincerely believe they won't find definitive evidence of Hitler in SA.
