I like a gut hook for skinning but that half serrated blade is a no go for meat work. I use a USA made Old Timer with a gut hook for most of my skinning/dressing and switch to a  butcher knife for, well, butchering. L@J

I'm not a big fan of the serrated blades. I mean, I like the serrated blades to be "Whole" on the blade. Then the non-serrated blades to be smooth on these. I guess I need to carry both...right?  ;)

Nice looking knives.  Wish I had something to share, but seems everything neat I've had has sorta wandered off over the years.  :(  Anyway, love lookin' at the neat stuff you guys put on here.  Keep'm comin'. <={

Here's my skinnin knife.

I do have one of those half serrated blades. I had a WalMart gift certificate and couldn't find anything I really wanted so I got a Gerber Bear Gryllis with it. Its more of a survival type knife but seems to be well made and holds a decent edge fairly well. It has a magnesium fire starter and a diamond hone. it was dull as a butter knife when I got it and the hone sharpened it right up but after one sharpening most of the diamond dust is gone. :o

I have a couple of collector knives. This one I saw in a couple of movies where they were making human sacrifices so when I saw one for sale I got it.

And this S&W

Nice steel, Hawg! And you guys are absolutely right about the serrated blade. They suck for skinning and butchering. I had a nice little drop-point that walked away I used for that. Think I might try to make one.
