I have noticed that the brass on some older Italian muzzleloaders did not gain a darker patina. The brass on a Thompson Center "Hawken" from the 80's would patina quickly. It could be anybody's guess as to what the zinc content is when it comes to brass manufacture over the years. Who knows what else could have been added.As well, bronze can have other alloys added besides tin.The frames on both of my Uberti 1866's dull a lot slower than the frame on my older Unerti Henry.
There is a Navy Arms version of the Yellow Boy available at my LGS for $450.00I'm tempted...you guys think that's a good price?
