Two of my Single Shots

Here are 2 of my single shot muzzle loading pistols. I did some modification to them just to see if I could pour pewter. CVA and Lyman.

Different look altogether. Did you melt the pewter in a forge, or was a fire hot enough?

Propane torch and a lead ladle. Heat the pewter to just where it is molten and pour.

Interesting! Is that Birchwood Casey Plum brown, or Laurel Mountain browning on the metalwork?

I think the browning solution was some I had left over from a couple of Curly Gostomsky (old North Star) kit guns called "Old Time Browne" or something like that.

I've thought about buying a single shot pistol for a long time now.  Reading this post has me thinking again.  The Traditions Trapper model seems to catch my eye every once in a while.  I like the brass grip cap and brass ring on the forend.  The flintlock model has a lot of "old world charm". 
The pewter on your's looks very good Mazo.   I'd like to try some thing like that.

Thanks, I had thought about doing the pewter caps for a while. One of my buddies convinced me it was do able so I just did it! The top pistol was my first and I like it better than the second one.
