Odd G&G
« on: August 16, 2017, 01:52:17 AM »
This G&G has some odd characteristics.
Squareback trigger guard.
Dark grips.
Color case loading lever.

What do you think?

LP, I've seen some of the HS guns and the grips definitely look re-finished. All the ones I've seen have been a light/cherry color, high gloss. This definitely has timing/lockup issues by the looks of the cylinder, and the one I handled also had a CCH loading lever. As for the SB trigger guard...unusual. IMHO, asking WAY too much for a used brasser with no case, box or papers.
I would pass unless you really have a jones on...a couple hundo more would score you a nice sig series Colt.

The square back tg is definitely not original. The bolt is dropping a little early but IMO not too bad. The bolt/trigger spring appears to be a little on the stout side.

A serious question:  Why would anyone spend $300.00 + for that?  I suppose there is some mysterious element concerning the collecting of elderly reproductions that I’m missing.

I’d sure rather have my spanky new Pietta G&G purchased from EMF in April 2017 for two bills than the one pictured there at GB for three.

I guess since it's a High Standard they figure it should bring more.

One bid for 3 C-notes and the reserve has not been met? Seller is a bit proud of that pistol...

My buddy bought a HS cased set with a G&G and cutlass, serialed alike. It was, according to him, the absolute worst action of his collection. He sold it.

I dislike that High Standard logo emblazoned on the breach area like a durn marquee.  Those D-guard Bowies are cool though, except that when I buy a gun I’m not necessarily looking for a knife.
