i sent him an email last night and this is his response:Thanks for your help, Almost all of my firearms come from firearm auctions through local, and proxybid, and other sites. I stumbled on this one at a small antique store where I was given the history of this piece. I wondered why there were punch marks. I ended the auction and I will keep this as my $500 mistake.
This piece came from an estate in Western Arizona.
Unless the story and apology is also a con.Jim

Did ASM make repro 1951 "Navy" brasser .44 pistols with short barrel/load lever?
Quote from: sourdough on August 22, 2017, 02:35:43 PMDid ASM make repro 1951 "Navy" brasser .44 pistols with short barrel/load lever?Pretty sure they did. Pietta and ASM were the main ones making 44 navy brassers. Euroarms may have but I don't think they made them with short barrels. Uberti made some in the beginning but again I don't think they made short barrels. I could be wrong on all counts tho.
Gentlemen;I "assumed" Pietta because Pietta is the only maker I know that made a 'shortie' brasser .44 Navy. Of course, I could very well be wrong, as Navy Arms may well have made one, with probably a whole lot less writing to defarb. Either way, this one got stopped in it's tracks.
Navy Arms didn't make jack, they're an importer(you should know that ). They've sold Uberti, ASM, Palmetto and Pietta.
