Colt finish variations on the 2nd Gens
« on: June 02, 2019, 11:52:55 PM »
Curiously, one of my Pocket Navys has an oiled stock.   It s  s#d to it to. In ink. These came out standard with varnished.

I wonder if Colt Industries did this intentional to keep with the spirit of how Colt back then did strange departures from the norm once in a while?  There s  other variations too that are more subtle. Walker stocks, loading lever release checkering ,.

Curious.

Some of my Colts on duty.  You can see the Pocket Navys oiled stock. Instead of varnished.

With the originals I believe oiled was the military finish and varnished was civilian.
