Hi, just a note to let you know that the parts kit for Pietta 1851/1860 are now back in stock at Cabelas. They are also on sale, see:
http://www.cabelas.com/product/Pietta-Replacement-Pistol-Parts-Kit/740233.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3DPietta%2BReplacement%2BPistol%2BParts%2BKit%26x%3D21%26y%3D9%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=Pietta+Replacement+Pistol+Parts+Kit&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
I waited four months backorder for this kit. As some of you may know, getting a replacement bolt spring for the Pietta 1851/1860 that fits is almost impossible to find in stock anywhere.
If any of you use a conversion cylinder, you can modify the hammer to eliminate the gap, either with a brass plug, or weld up the gap. The small area of contact on the firing pins of a conversion cylinder with a stock hammer can peen the firing pin ends.
Regards,
Richard

Right, I just got mine about 10 days ago, for the 51/60 and the 58. I ordered them back in June.
Probably about the same situation things would have been in 150 years ago...just to keep the historical perspective.
