Ball molds in custom sizes
« on: January 08, 2020, 09:40:35 AM »
I saw this on another forum, it is a place that makes ball molds in a lot of sizes. I have not used them myself but I thought it would be good to post in case somebody is looking for a certain size mold. I have a Uberti Hawken that takes .520 - .527" balls and a couple cap n' ball revolvers that take .457 - .464" balls. I already found molds for them but it took a long time. Perhaps there are other who could benefit from this site.

Those look like nicely made molds. And the multiple cavities is a bonus.

Jeff Tanner will make any size you want, brass single cavity. I believe he passed away, but someone is still making the molds. Turn around (from England) was about a week for the ones I ordered. He had a US bank account so no hassle with conversion. They used to be about $25.00 but have increased in price I believe.

Moose Molds are quality aluminum molds in period designs for breech loaders. They also make molds for round balls in various sizes. They're not exactly cheap but if you want a mold that casts original designs they're worth it. I paid 125.00 for my Sharps ringtail several years ago and the price on those is still the same. Other molds are different prices. http://www.moosemoulds.com
