Percussion double barrel muzzleloader
« on: June 15, 2020, 06:00:39 PM »
Found this one hiding over the basement beam. It is an H.J. Sterling double barrel. Sounds English, but is a Belgian shotgun.

The stock was broken through the wrist when I got the gun.

That's a good looking gun. I like the shape of the locks better than the one I have.

"Found this one hiding over the basement beam."

How does that work? Never had the enjoyment of "finding" something I didn't know I had. But, they say that's one of the benefits of dementia...every day is filled with surprises! (jh

There are several guns "hiding" over that beam. There is a rectangular duct just on the other side of it. I put a piece of scrap carpeting over them; gets the guns off the floor and out of the way. And yes, sometimes I do find a forgotten gun. This one will possibly need new nipples, will have to check functioning. I can't remember if I have the ramrod for it, will have to do a search for one.

I guess I have to plead guilty as charged. Some of my guns have been in my possession for 50 years, hard to keep track of them when they don't see the light of day for years on end. I do have a written record of them; I have a card file for both cartridge and muzzleloader guns.
