This style of axe was said to have been found at the Fort in Ohio, but no one seems to have an original. They could also be called a Kentucky belt axe. Because of their size and light weight, they have limited use, IMO.

That is really cool. I love the shape of the head.

The little axes and hatchets are good for chopping and splitting kindling.

Indeed, I didn't mean to say they weren't  handy to have. Just that you wouldn't want to do much heavy work with them. Where they do come in handy is for field dressing game like splitting deer hip and breast bones.
