Yellow Boy problem resolved
« on: January 05, 2021, 05:20:06 PM »
Hopefully. You may remember I had a too long cartridge stuck in the lifter. I tried a lot of things but nothing would do. The carbine was sitting in the basement laughing at me every time I went down there. It was apparent that the only way to get the lifter down was to physically remove the cartridge. I did that yesterday, I had to drill the case out in a couple of sections as there is NO room to cut from a side.

Now before I put everything back together, I want to polish a few surfaces and lighten a couple of springs.

How did you get those stuck in there to begin with?  ???

Dumb move! ^j)  I loaded some dummy rounds to check function before loading for real. Unfortunately, one was a 357 instead of 38 Spl. and it got trapped in the lifter. No way to get the bolt out with the cartridge in the lifter. Lucky it was a dummy round.

At least you get her running again. That poor girl has been idle for quite a while.

That is the plan! In fact, that is what I was going to do the end of August.

I put everything back together and now the carrier/lifter wanted to hang up. After taking the sideplate off a couple of times to see if all was in order, I tightened the left side lever spring tension a tad. That did it! &\? All set to go now.
