We talk a lot about pictures around here and these pics are great but we are going to need some video of this gun.

Video and more info as well!!!

Did you build it? i would spray paint or powder coat them balls fluorescent orange as well so you can recover them!  thats a heck of a lot of lead to throw around... whats the bore diam? is there anything else you can shoot out of it ??? not shrapnel and nails, but something solid like a bowling ball?

I purchased the cannon and all accessories. The mortar balls are also exact replicas made of zinc and filled with sawdust instead of powder. Each ball costs about 150 smackaroos but they are pretty easy to find because of the size. The bore is a little under 6 inches but this is relatively small compared to others made at that time. This is about all I could afford to shoot and get into without spending a fortune. Anything can be shot out of the barrel that fits into the bore, but since it only has one trajectory it’s limited on what you have the ability to hit. I’ve seen folks use coffee cans filled with concrete for fun shooting but I haven’t tried that yet. I posted a video. Let me know if it works.

Just like it’s smaller BP cousins it’s powder charge is measured by volume. 300 to 350 grains will get it about 200 yards which is pretty low on the power range that it’s rated for. The NSSA guys have some pretty cool videos on YouTube showing mortar competitions. Cool stuff. Wish I could attend.

The one I made is similar, but a British mortar.

Of course, mine is just a bit smaller! L@J  I use about 15 grains of powder per shot. Please check your PMs.
