When I buy a piece I just want a gun.  Kits are not my thing.  It's a delay.

Get it. Take apart and smooth things up, lube, reassemble.  Go shoot.  I have never wanted to be a gun factory.
Kits are my thing. The lower price, if any, is icing on the cake. My first couple of black powder guns were kits, including a brasser '58.
It's like reloading; I've often heard people say that reloading is only good if you don't value your time. I do value my time. Especially the time I get to spend reloading, casting bullets, and building guns! :cowboypistol:

WECSOG, Howdy, I can understand why you like kits and such. I like casting round balls and making my own wads. It's enjoyable to me. I've never tried a kit but I can see where that would be great fun.  (7&

Many years ago I built a Thompson Center Hawken rifle kit, right now I am building a Lyman Great Plains rifle kit. You learn a lot building these kits and you have the satisfaction of accomplishment when it's completed.  (7&

Kits are appealing to me too, for the reasons already mentioned. I'm the kind of guy that will take a Navy and turn it into a Dance. I get great satisfaction from building something myself, cost be damned.

I tell people all the time, they're just Italian copies. They have little monetary value. They are not priceless Colt collectibles.

Buffalo Arms has Schuetzen powder in stock in all granulations. It looks like they have a few Swiss in stock too. Get it while you can.

The only way I could build a kit is if it was factory finished, disassembled and put in a box.

Midway has Starline .45/70 brass in stock again after a multi-year drought. Better hurry, though. They have 200 less than they did this morning. Just sayin'.

Midway and Starline both are showing...after several years' drought... .45LC brass back in stock. They had nickel plated for a day or so but long gone.

Graf & Sons show IN STOCK:

Graf's Classic black powder, 1, 2 and 3F

Schuetzen 1, 3 and 4F

Swiss 1, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4F

Fairly normal pricing, too. Strike while the iron's hot, boys.
