Colt Walker cylinders
« on: June 28, 2021, 11:54:11 AM »
Sometime back I posted comments and pictures of my Colt Walkers with the cylinder in the white. This particular revolver is a defarbed Uberti.

The originals were all made with the cylinder in the white.

Has anyone else stripped the blue off of your Walker?

I don't have a Walker. But if I did, I'd do the same thing. Looks better done up proper.

I didn't strip it, but my Walker has no bluing, nonetheless!

Yup...cool factor on this one is off the charts. Especially since it's been "Goonerized"!

Capt's Walker is the best of the breed. It looks perfect and it's convertible. On top of it all, it's been made perfect by Goon. No finer Walker exists.

.... I already told the Cap that if the Walker didn't do good  .  .  .

I don't think there's much chance of that happening Mike!!

Still have the blue on my Walker. Haven't been sold yet on the look. The one gun I have given a vinegar bath to was an 1873 Cattleman that I turned into an impromptu Ranch Hand when I swapped its steel grip with the brass one off an 1851 Navy. Bare iron and brass is not an impressive look.

Hey Captain,

45 Colt, or did you open it up to the 45 Black Powder Magnum?
Personally I think the .460 case would be more than I could handle.

ASM...nope, left it at .45 Colt. Figured if I want more "oomph" I'll just use 60gr of 3F...

Hi, the Walker cylinder wasn't blued because the hot bluing would destroy the temper of the wrought iron cylinder. Early Walker cylinder (~30%) did fail on full loads. Here are my two Walkers, one wearing a nickel plated cylinder. The other is a Walker kit nitride finished.

Regards,
Richard

That's still the best looking pair of Walkers since Josey Wales, Richard!
