I acquired this pipe hawk some years back. It has a curly maple handle but it's not bored.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and tasteth good with ketchup.

Nice 'hawk! Sometimes it is tricky to drill the length of that handle. My only attempt ended badly :-[ Maybe if I had used a brad pointed drill it would have been different. Or slice the handle lengthwise and carve out the center of both pieces before gluing them back together.

Did that once for a calumet I made. Worked well, IIRC
