Goex to be shut down by December

I am probably late to this topic, but I just found out that Hogden is closing down Goex and all production of its black powders:

Going to various distributors like Graf & Sons and Powder Valley revealed that predictably there was another run on their supplies and pretty much everything is unavailable except FG and 4FG.

Even though this is ostensibly a business decision by Hogden, it is another marker in the continued deconstruction of America at every level by our Federal government.

2) It indeed represents a roadblock to our freedoms as shooters and gun owners and has kicked off a whole new level of hoarding, and this one is very dangerous. A gentleman on another forum was boasting how he bought 50# of powder (two cases) and had enough to leave plenty to his survivors.
Imagine the scenario of an accident in his case...there might not be any "survivors" in the instance of a house fire. Not to mention the fact that he is hoarding and denying the purchase of BP to other people who may not begin to get any at all...

WOW. 50 lbs? Jeez. The implications of that? One can only imagine. I refrained from buying any only because I felt like 8 lbs was/is plenty for myself as I am not an avid shooter. Someone else was able to buy because I did not. Hope things get better. Have to have hope.

 I guess if I lived where you do I would probably have at least that or more. I live in a fairly large city. No fun. Guess it depends on where one lives.

In Illinois you are allowed up to 5# without a "special permit" (yeah, right...let's all flag ourselves to BATF...NOT!) as well as a BATF approved "powder magazine". So even though BATF allows an individual to store up to 50#, you may be in violation of state and local ordinances. Best to check first.

G, Hawg is correct...a global mod has the clout to move, modify and delete posts throughout the (global) forum, make error and spelling corrections and assist with problems. We just lost an excellent GM in Mazo Kid, Tim stepped in to learn the ropes and take his place.
