Mike...here's a couple I'd done earlier that I didn't find all that interesting, but the customer loved them. I did try to get a camo pattern with these.... not sure I made it, but I got close.

I'd say they were on the mark. I'd think you could successfully sell those as camo. It would be interesting to see black or dark brown with the lighter brown and tan (plain).

On another note, could you possibly use a dauber to get a similar effect? Much like this one only with larger areas of color and more variation in the shades? No tooling, of course.

Thanks, but I like the look Mick got best. That's a cool technique. I may play with things to see if I can get something as attractive.

That's a great looking holster!

Here's a video on the process....it's way too long, but you can just fast forward.....

I've had trouble with black dye doing this for some reason......maybe you'd have better luck. It's a wide open process as far as the dye is concerned.....

Thanks, Mick.

Wow, they sure made a mess. I see what you mean.

It's an interesting process. Thanks for posting the link to that video.

Like I said earlier.....it's definitely not something you'd use a whole lot. But, it can be interesting on the right project.

It looked like it might be more effective for leather with just brown or black and no secondary colors mixed in.
