Something a little different...
« on: January 31, 2022, 09:54:22 AM »
I'm almost done with a 50 knife sheath order. Each knife was totally different, which made it a little less boring. I decided to work on a different dye technique for the last ones. It's quite messy, but the results were kind of cool. It's definitely not something I'd use a lot....but it helped make a rather tedious order a little more fun.

Here's a pic of one of them showing the dye pattern.....

That's pretty cool Mick. It adds some character. I like it.

That's mighty nice, Mick. Good dye technique, there.

Yes Mike it is. Kida fun to play around with....but I'm not sure it's worth all the hassle with mess afterwards. I guess I just need to work on the process a bit more to figure out a less messy way to do it.

I haven't used the shaving cream method but I've seen some really interesting effects from it.    I've seen some impressive camoflage patterns done that way.   Yours looks very good,  sometimes it doesn't turn out so well.

Yeah Mike...I went through a bunch of scraps figuring it all out. It's kind of a crap shoot, you can't really tell what you're going to end up with. However, it's kind of fun when it works out halfway decent.

Mike...here's a couple I'd done earlier that I didn't find all that interesting, but the customer loved them. I did try to get a camo pattern with these.... not sure I made it, but I got close.
