"Revolver"
« on: October 22, 2021, 02:56:30 PM »
I put up this new category, hoping you guys will post the books you're reading or have read. Including any good reference material you have. I figured I'd start out the discussion with the current book I'm reading.

I bought this book about 6 months ago, and never got around to it. So I just started it, and so far it's great. It's the story of Sam Colt's life from the very beginning. It's not so much about the guns as it is about the man.

The title is "Revolver" Sam Colt and the six-shooter that changed America. The author is Jim Rasenberger. I got it on Amazon. I don't even remember where I heard about the book at. I just knew it sounded interesting. Not your usual book about Colt guns.

It has quite a few pictures in it too. Some of which I hadn't seen before.

So if Sam'l Colt interests you at all, I recommend getting this one.

And if you're reading anything interesting, please start a post about it!

Are you picking a fight with me Tim? (Sorry I can't retort with an emoji. Because I have exactly zero now. They've all disappeared.)

Maybe that's what we need around here, a little drama? Seems to be what everyone is drawn to on other forums.

Well, I would have thought a more comprehensive historical treatise type of a book on the 1858 would have been a better topic to kick off this Revolver thread?? I’m mean really? Colt?!!  (7+" (7+" (7+" I’ve got plenty more emojis where that came from!  :-*

If you'll notice the curve at the top of the main spring in the cutaway view, THAT is "Goons Kickass Mainspring"!! I just found that same pic a few weeks ago!! Anyway, if you lighten your main, you can regain any lost lock time and actually speed up lock time by this handy dandy little feature!! The same type thing happens with the geometry that the V spring offers in the Walker/Whitneyville and 1st Mod Dragoons. That's where I got that from  and then this pic shows up!!!!
Believe me, NOTHING IS NEW WHEN WORKING WITH S.A. REVOLVERS!!! LOL (somebody's done done it!!!)

That says a lot Mike. You have the same ideas as the original engineers of the gun did. That's why we have you work on ours!
