1877 Colt Lightning
« on: February 25, 2022, 03:05:58 PM »
As promised, here are some pics. I previously mentioned it made manufactured in 1884....I was wrong, it was made in 1882. This is an absolutely gorgeous revolver and if I had the $$$, it would be home with me now.

This is as close to the actual revolver that John Henry "Doc" Holiday carried during his time in Tombstone and after. His was in the first 40 made by Colt.

Of all the Colt revolvers, these are right at the top of my list. Fit and point of aim are spot on. It fits nicely in a front pocket.

I apologize, the pics aren't the best....but you'll get a good idea of just how pristine the little pocket revolver is.

Cool. I was just going by the worn grips and rusty grip screw.

Holy moly! That's a beauty!!

I don't see it on the hang tag, is it a .45 or a .41? Or maybe a .38?

Couldn't be a .45 because the '77 DAs only came in .38 or .41.

As an aside, that '77 grip shape feels better than just about anything.

If you want a .45, you have to get an 1878 DA.

The Lightening was a .38 Long Colt. The Thunderer was a .41 Long Colt and the Rainmaker was a .32 Long Colt. Those were not official Colt names.
