Muzzle heavy huh Hawg? Okay, so does the ring on the bottom of the grip have a purpose? It looks like it could be hung on a nail.

It's to tie the gun to yourself.

It's for securing the pistol to a holster or belt. Some soldiers had a propensity to drop their guns....especially on horseback
