Cast bullet business
« on: May 28, 2022, 06:19:45 AM »
Well fellows, I counted my lead inventory.  Have 270lb, of lead including soft lead, and wheel weights.  My wife suggested That I could set up at gun shows and sell cast bullets.  My offering would be cast round ball of .440, .451,  .454,  .490, .530.  And .308. 150 and 170 gr 30-30 GC bullets.
   What do you think.

I would think it would be popular. People are always looking for bullets. Would you offer them pre-lubed, too?

My wife and  I are moving in a month from Garland, tx  to Princeton tx (all Dallas Area.)   After that I will begin to post “ammo” for sale.
  The encouragement here is great.

I don’t think there is a problem if it’s not live loaded rounds. Some states may have a lead problem like CA.

If you are going to sell cartridge ammunition that you assembled then the feds say you must have a specific type of FFL.

270 lbs. isn't going to last long if you start selling it. The question you have to ask yourself is how much do I have in it and how much is it going to cost me to replace it when it's gone.

It would not work in CA.  Can’t order fixed ammo from out of state unless it first goes to a licensed in-state firearm dealer and then a background check.  Can’t personally buy ammo in another state and then drive it home.  That’s smuggling or something.

Can’t make ammo and then go commercial with it.  First, ya need a resale license generally and then a license to sell ammo/firearms specifically.

That’s CA for you.  Thanks Governor Hair-Jell.  I feel so much safer.

From the way he worded it I don't think he's selling loaded ammo, just the lead bullets.

Right you are, Hawg.  Sorry guys.  The post was perfectly clear, I need to quit speed reading and slow down some.
