Yeah, I have a little 3.8kw portable gen too, but always had to pull it up close to a panel, hook it up, throw the main, start it, etc. then there are the times when you are not at home and the power goes out. No heat, no refrigeration! The 14 KW generator pretty much does the whole house as far as power, lights, well, heat and refrigeration, all that we need. About the only thing in the house that isn't on the transfer panel is the micro wave and I can just plug that into a kitchen outlet with a short extension cord if we want it.
