That was an interesting video. Quite informative and covered some mighty cool pistols.

He did miss one pistol that was used by the South though, the Colt 1860 Army. At the very beginning of the war, Colt shipped a lot of 500 of the first Armies to Richmond. They were of the first run 1860's with full fluted cylinders and some of them failed in use, due to the thin metal in the cylinders. Maybe Colt found a way to get rid of a less than great production run of these pistols.

I like Mike's videos, this one is a little bit long. I finished watching it because it is one of Mike's.

Enjoyed the video. Thank you Richard. He mentions the THE COLUMBUS FIREARMS MANUFACTURING COMPANY. That is where I reside. Had no idea they made any revolvers for the confederacy. Only made 100 they say.

Another Interesting link here about a Columbus gun that allegedly sold for 150k in 2016.

The Columbus pistols are new to me, too. The one in the video had a round barrel that looked like it might have been hand filed from an octagonal one. Interesting stuff. Thanks for that additional link, Z.

Marshal, you are welcome sir. Did you read where one known gun has an octagonal barrel? Referred to as a hybrid.

Yes, I noticed the mention of the hybrid one. Evidently made on a Colt frame. It might have been one of the prototypes they made while perfecting the fit and function of the parts.

Zulch,  No I did not like it, It was awkward feeling in your hand,  I don't own any brass revolvers or 36 caliber revolvers

Okay, you guys probably already know a lot about G & G guns from the south and probably a few of you own some or once owned one. I do not own one nor have I ever owned one. You may have even seen this before but since we're on the topic of guns of the south here goes.

Does it look like his mustache is trying to slide of his lip or is it just me? When Leech & Rigdon left Memphis they moved to Briarfield Arsenal in Columbus MS. Briarfield was one of if not the largest arsenal in the Confederacy. They employed 1000 workers, 50 of them were gunsmiths. They made ammunition, L&R revolvers, swords, cannon and did repair work. They even made a pair of dueling pistols for Jefferson Davis. He seldom does enough research to be making videos so I seldom watch them.
