Snap-A-Cap day!
« on: September 19, 2022, 12:23:33 PM »
CC members...Wednesday, September 21st is our annual "Snap-A-Cap Day" tribute to those forum members emeritus who have gone on ahead of us. If your situation allows, please raise a toast of your favorite beverage and snap a cap in salute to our fallen comrades. Of course, if you live out in the sticks, feel free to let off a live one...or two...! And if you live in an area where these things are frowned upon, you can always pop a balloon or a paper bag. Whatever floats your boat, it's the thought that counts.
This year our memories go out to Mazo Kid (who, ironically, passed 2 days after last year's SAC) and Johnnie Roper AKA "Gunslinger" who although not a CC member, had a rather avid following on the 1858 Remington forum...which, along with the Collector's Forum, we can also snap a cap to as both of those forums have departed as well.
It's always nice to see the spent cap, the revolver that did the dirty deed, and the empty glass as well. Cheers! :big_drink_2:

After shooting 4 shots, I gave the baby a bath. Boiling water and some soft yellow soap.

Now, at around 8 pm, I finally got around to toasting the memory of our departed friends with wee drams of Scotch Malt. In order to keep track, I used the spent caps and the RBs pried out of the back stop (RBs went straight thru the 3/4" layer and landed  1 and 1/8 inch into the 2by4 next layer (maybe not the Johnnie Rooper's Medical-Examiner's-Load, but good enough for an 1857 gun). Firsht I toashted Emery and moved one battered RB and itsh cap, then I toashted Steve DD4 and counted off one more RB and cap fragment, then I toaschteded Johnnie Rooper (hope he doesn't mind, he didn't touch the stuff), then I totoaschtidid the other guysch.

Well, I did my civic duty, men. And what better vessel to sail these seas with than my newly assembled Lego Colt? Emery loved his Colts, that much we all knew. And Johnnie, of course, detested them. What could be more perfect, then?  L@J So, without further ado...

Here's the rig we're running tonight! Saddle up, boys!

Two capped and ready, one for Johnnie and one for Emery...

A bit of the Olde Tyme look for Johnnie's sake (he was an old soul, born in the wrong century)

Salute done. One of the caps fell off after firing, in typical Colt fashion.

There we have it, then! Heeding Len's advice, I opted to run a patch through and oil up the Lego gun BEFORE toasting our comrades.  :big_drink_2:
Lest you think I forgot about our other brothers, Smokin' Gun, Steve, Dr. Davis, and Sourdough, they were all included in my salute and toast as well. May you rest easy gentlemen, and reap your rewards.

Iced tea is darn good, and wishing I had a cold one right now! Looking forward to your post, Hawg!
