I've used loose 777 in a caplock rifle and pellets in an inline.  Worked fine.

I have used and am using 777 in 36 and 44 revolvers, carbine, single shot cap pistols, flintlock pistols and shotgun, the same way Im using Swiss. No noticable difference, but sulfur smell is weaker, smoke is just about similar, maybe a bit lighter, punch is the same.

Hi AZ6, T7 is one of the most powerful subs available. The only downside is that it leaves a difficult to remove ring in the chamber. I like all the BP subs except Pyrodex that is an inconstant propellant.

I use T7 for my cartridge guns .38, .44-40, and .45 Colt.  Very accurate and clean.  Cap guns get fffg Olde Eynsford til I run out, then it's T7.

Hi, flintlocks need real BP, the subs don't work well. A work around for flintlocks when BP is scarce is to use ~5gr of real black power before adding the sub. The flashpan always needs real BP.

Richard

I use it in rifle cartridge guns like 32 win special, 45/70, and stuff like that. It ignites well and gives a bit more bang for ur buck.

A good lube will also help with that crusty ring it likes to leave.

Does anyone know the shelf life of T7? I bought a couple of cans four years ago that I haven't used yet. Just curious.
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

As long as it hasn't been opened it should be ok. I've seen posts where it lasted at least four years.

I have a jug that’s been open for five years.  Recently used loose powder and in some paper carts.  It worked as well as the day it was bought.  I store it air tight with desiccant packets. Next to Swiss T7 is my favorite stuff.
