How is the supply line in your area today?
« on: December 08, 2023, 09:35:00 AM »
Now that things have sort of returned to somewhat normal in the BP world, again we are threatened with a potential 'shortage' of shooting supplies. How are things in your neck of the woods, and in your supply cabinet in general? This mainly in regard to:
*Black powder
*Subs
*Patches, wads, lives
*Caps
*RB, conicals, lead, moulds
And if you reload BPC:
*Primers
*Bullets or casting lead
*Brass
Is anyone still feeling the pinch?

Caps are non existent.    None anywhere anytime.   Some locals attempting to sell on Armslist at $99 per 100.   BP subs in stock but no real BP.

Reloading supplies are easily obtainable.  Primers,  powder, most brass are for sale everywhere.

Fortunately I scored on caps two years ago in what turned out to be a flash sale at Cabela's...I saw them, bought a bunch and within the hour they were gone. As for powder, I grabbed the legal maximum here in IL (6#) and scooped up a few #s of Pyrodex as a backup. .44-40(WCF) brass has been unobtanium for going on 4 years now.

Luckily, I stocked up on caps, powder, bullets and brass back in 2019, so I'm doing alright. Captain Kirk, I have a bag of 50 unopened Winchester .44-40 (WCF) unprimed brass that you can have if you pay postage.
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

I have a decent supply of caps and powder above what I keep as a reserve.   I'm always looking though and will continue to keep an eye out for opportunities to stay on top of the supply chain.

I have supplies for BP. and. Smokeless.  Saved up for years   when it was much cheaper. I haven’t bought new   Powder or primers, or bullets in years. The current  Prices are not within my reach.   The shelves are full of 9mm…
Very few BP supplies.  I load ..38 special. For $1.50 a box.   I’ve never tried to count BP revolver. Cost.. mostly DIY
