Defarbed Rem 1863
« on: May 03, 2024, 01:25:20 PM »
Picked up this defarbed replica.

Haven't shot it yet.  Springs are hell for stout.  Upon cleanup it has what looks like a nice forcing cone.

Took some bright light and magnification to find the ASM marking.  No clue as to date, can't find the code.

I lucked into one of these not long ago.  I've shot about 40 or so rounds through it.   It's a really fun little gun to play with.   Bring along a full size NMA to shoot at the same time.   Comparing the two side by side is a lot of  fun.

Hello Shooter,

Without a date code, it could well have been a kit.
I built one years back, but have never had the proper sized ball.
I purchased a .319" ball mold, but think it should be a .321".

Shooter. I like it! I guess when it was defarbed they maybe got a little over zealous and didn't care what they removed. Date stamp, etc. wish i had one of those lil' pistols. I really like that guard less trigger. Thanks for sharing.

That's what defarbing is Z. Removing all the Italian markings. I'm wondering why they didn't remove all of the ASM markings since they were so close. That is a neat looking little gun.

Right Hawg. It seems they ran out of gas before they had removed every trace of a marking?
