A couple of new toys
« on: October 15, 2014, 07:37:46 AM »
Hi, some new toys for the collection, a used steel framed Pietta 1863 Remington pocket and a new brass framed Pietta 1863 Remington pocket:

I already shot the steel framed 1863 Remington a couple hundred times. 3.5" groups @ 25yds. The 1863 are natural pointers where I get 2.5" groups from 7yds hip shooting. The brass framed 1863 won't be shot, but rather displayed next to my engraved full sized 1858.

Regards,
Richard

They look nice.  Years ago in a fit of weakness, I got one of the brass framed ones.  Loading with loose powder and ball was a chore so I lined the barrel and cylinder and chambered it for the 22 LR cartridge.  At some point, the sheath trigger annoyed my so I replaced it with a real trigger and trigger guard.  After all that work, I realized I did not like the Brand X style of revolver and traded it for an open top of some sort.

The idea of the conversion to 32 was not being done at that time.

Hi Captain, even as good as they look, they feel even better. Other than a woman, nothing feels better.  ;)

Regards,
Richard

Hi, a good price for the steel framed Remington 1863, see:

http://www.oldsouthfirearms.com/1863remingtonpocket.aspx

I ordered one. Already have a used steel frame and a brass 1863. Also own two .32 S&W conversion cylinders for the steel frame gun. This will give me another steel frame to shoot .32 S&W.

Regards,
Richard

That's a great price! Unfortunately he won't ship to Illinois.

Kirk, is that his decision? It is legal to ship m/l firearms anywhere in the US as long as the recipient is able to receive it.

Yes. He said it's their policy even though I showed him that the restrictions only apply to two counties; Springfield an Cook county and a handful of municipalities, none of which apply to me. It's cool though; that's their decision and I respect it.

Hi, my new Pietta 1863 Remington arrived yesterday. The fit and finish is excellent, timing perfect.

These little revolvers are really cute.  :) :) :)

Regards,
Richard
