A beaded sheath is a great accessory for a flintlock. That one looks nice. Good find.

I recently got these modern made spear points. I was intending to make a neck/patch knife out of one but they're too big and bulky. I can't find any original points that look exactly like them. They still look cool tho. I've got a couple of pieces of elk antler that will make good handles. Whacha think? Any other ideas on what to do with them?

Beautiful work, Mike. That's some original looking stuff. Thumbs-up!

I just did a search to see different cuff attachments. You're right, I started to get a feel for which holsters were made by the same guy. I didn't know that before.

Thanks for those additional photos. That really shows the excellent work that Mike put into it. I would be very pleased, too. Like I mentioned before, the Brill is one of my favorite holster designs. It's as historically significant as any.

You mentioned the cuff attachment was an individual signature point. I'll have to start looking to see examples of how others did it.

Gorgeous, Mike! The Brill holsters are of my favorite designs. That one is outstanding. Very, very nice work. He should be very pleased with that.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Congrats.

The one I saw had been used a lot and the leather shim was soaked with oil so there was no appreciable rust around it. Glad yours cleaned up easily.

Thanks Mike. Your response sounds like a good solution. I will give it a try. I know what you mean about Colt mainsprings. I've replaced all my original Colt springs(tagged each one to what gun it came out of) and at one point in 3rd gen. Colt started using a tapered one. Worked on my friends un-altered early 1st gen and it had the heaviest mainspring I ever felt.
Marshal Will, I will probably use the Wolf springs as a starting point as many of my guns have them. Even the newer standard Uberti springs aren't much heavier.
Thanks, I wondered about those. I look forward to hearing what you find.

I saw an 1890 Colt SAA that had a leather shim under the mainspring to lighten it up some. That shim had been in there a long time. Obviously people thought they were too stiff even back then.

How nice you got to talk to Jim Kibler about it. That is certainly going to the source, eh?

That's some good shooting. Maybe faster powder in the pan will reduce the delay. F...book is not a good place in best of conditions. I gave up on FB many years ago, preferring decent people over many of the ones that frequent there. Here you have true friends who want to see you do well. And, I'm glad to see you out doing well with it.

I look forward to seeing your results. Are you going to include aftermarket ones like the Wolf Reduced Power main springs?

The trigger pull might give a good enough reference of the springs in use. I can't think of another way to measure them unless you make a fixture to measure the pull on the hammer to full cock or how much force to bend the spring far enough to equal full cock. That could get expensive if you have to buy measuring equipment.

The replacement nipples I installed were some I ordered from DD4lifeUSMC several years ago.   Capt. Kirk, Hawg, Len and a few others here remember him.   He was a seller of BP supplies and a friend of mine.   The nipples were from Butler Creek Muzzle Loading. The package  description said 6 x.75 Stainless Steel Nipple.    They should have worked but nothing is ever guaranteed.

Marshal,    I have seen people put a wood dowel in the magazine tube to keep the follower away from your hand.   First time I've heard of someone going to the trouble of machining an aluminum follower.
Yeah, that aluminum follower does look like it's overkill. A wooden dowel with a pin to keep it from going into the lifter would work as well.
