I'm not the guy who has any use for unfired weapons either.  I really don't want anything that should be left unfired in order to hold it's value.  In my opinion the real value in having a weapon includes the ability to use the weapon as intended by the designer.  Sam Colt didn't make guns and expect them to remain unused.
I don't take this gun to the range but it is not beyond possiblity that I might someday.  It's not really very valuable but is a nice looking design.

Mazo,  Here's the link to photos of the "Rattlesnake".
I think it is owned by Smokin_Gun who as you know is a member of the 1858 forum, and the Black Powder Revolver Collecting Forum.

This is my 1851 Navy Frederic Remington Commemorative Model.   It was commisioned by the New England Collectors Society, which from what I know was active in the '70s and '80s.  Can't seem to find any info on them.
The gun was made by Uberti in 1987.   It is engraved on the barrel ,cylinder and frame.  The cylinder and barrel are charcoal blued with the frame, loading lever, and hammer in the white.  Brass tigger guard and back strap.  The walnut grips are above average with nice grain.
The engraving on the cylinder depicts a cowboy on a horse copied from Frederic Remington's Painting entitled "The Cowboy"
There is a sister model to this gun which is an 1858 NMA in basically the same set up but is called "The Rattlesnake" and has a Picture of a cowboy on bucking horse that has been spooked by a rattlesnake.

I am not a big fan of these Commemorative guns but this one I like and would be willing to buy the NMA model to match.

Welcome,
I started out with the Remington Forum too.  It's less busy here but still lots of good gun talk.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Green chile day.

Sounds perfect to me.   Today I'm making a big pot of my world famous green chili and then later we'll have smothered burritos and some homemade guacamole for dinner.
I'm visiting Nebraska (my daughter lives here)  so I'm showing the locals how we make real green chili in Colorado.

Single shots / Re: Two of my Single Shots

I've thought about buying a single shot pistol for a long time now.  Reading this post has me thinking again.  The Traditions Trapper model seems to catch my eye every once in a while.  I like the brass grip cap and brass ring on the forend.  The flintlock model has a lot of "old world charm".
The pewter on your's looks very good Mazo.   I'd like to try some thing like that.

Yeah,  he's happy.  Almost everyone I know would be happy if I gave them a gun and a holster to carry it in.  I'd be pretty happy too.

Nope,  not a factory gun.  I bought it from a guy I know who bought it from a photographer.  The photographer said he had it made by a gunsmith for a photo shoot.  Said it was also used in a movie but really don't know anything about that.

The second photo was taken at the ranch my son manages.  It is 8 miles South of Elbert Colorado or about 15 or 20 miles East of Castle Rock Colorado.   Very pretty country,  and wide open.  Mostly Cows and horses but a lot of deer and Elk, a couple moose, a few bears, one or two mountain lions and thousands of rattle snakes and coyotes.  It's pretty much paradise for me.

Here's my 1860 snubby and the holster I made for it.   I'm giving it to my son to keep handy for snakes.  The ranch house he lives in has been vacant for a while so the rattle snakes have moved into the yard.   I made up some paper cartridges with #6 and #8 shot.  Tested it last weekend.  Works perfect!   The holster has snaps on the belt loop so it's easy to put on or take it off your regular belt.

I bought the same set up last month.  Got the free stuff too.  Nice little gun even if it is Brass.  I don't mind reduced loads.  I have several steel framed guns I can load up if I want.

Bikes have changed a lot since then.  My first street machine was a brand new 1982 Honda CB650.  I rode it everywhere for 4 years,  even on snowy days.  Had others but liked the 650 best.  Wish I had a bike now.  I sold all of mine a few years ago.

Good for Grandpa,  I'll bet he made his point.  Probably went over well with the guys on the force too.
