Captain's Navy Colts
« on: September 09, 2011, 09:47:34 PM »
Here are a few pix of my Navy Colts. The first is an EXCAM imported Navy, the maker of whom I haven't determined yet (probably ASM) as there are no maker marks visible. Very, very nice shooter with 20gr Pyrodex P and a .375 RB. Purchased new from a gun shop I worked at part time during the Eighties. The action was pretty poor until I worked over the trigger and hammer. Now; very nice!

Next up, my new Pietta brasser 5-1/2" Sheriff's Model in .44. I have not shot this yet, purchased new from Cabela's earlier last month.  Nice, light trigger, needs no work IMHO. Can't wait to shoot it!

This gun has been ID'd as a COM by the mystic runes on the underside of the barrel by our favorite gun guru, Dr. Jim Davis. Dr. Davis feels the COM/DOM marked barrels may have been 'subbed out' to outside subcontractors, one who may have used the COM or DOM markings, but unknown to us Yankees. So, if that's the case, then we know the importer (EXCAM) and (possibly) the barrelmaker (COM) but the gun itself is still somewhat of a mystery. If this rings a bell with anyone, feel free to chime in!
