Hi Sun, the Pietta nipples are just fine, never had any problem with them in over a dozen Pietta revolvers.

However, a lot of people swear by Slix-Shot replacement nipples, ~$36/6. Some say they help minimize cap sucking with the Colts, but IMO you don't need them.

Richard

I think this is like my life long fishing habit... You can spend as much as you want... Trying to figure out what you need is another thing.....

Hi Sun, you can never have too much powder, caps, and lead. What money you save by not buying questionable add-ons can be used to buy another revolver when they are on sale. There are usually two good Cabelas sales a year.

Richard

One thing I got right was going to Home Depot and spending $8 on a tool box that both Navy pistols fit in the bottom of as a range box... A lot cheaper than the designated ones... Just toss it in the truck and off to the range

I have bought a couple revolvers that already had Slix-Shot or other after market nipples on them.  All have been replaced with stock nipples.   The 1860 I recently acquired has SS Tresso nipples on it.   No brand or size fits them well so I am going to change them out for stock nipples.  I agree with Richard,  save your money for powder, caps, and lead.

The stock nipples are fine. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I put Slix-Shot nipples on my Uberti Walker because the factory nipples were not all the same size. All my other cap and ball revolvers work just fine with the original factory nipples.
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

Powder and lead I got... Caps are hard to get all of the sudden... Our Tallahassee bass pro shop has been out of them for over a month...have found cci # 10s elsewhere

I shoot Piettas and have never needed anything other than the stock cones.  For me, they work just fine and some are getting on to twenty years old with a bazillion hammer strikes on them.   I have 54 cones for seven revolvers and each cone works real well on any of the 42 chambers.

In my own experience CCI #10's render great service on a Pieta cone.

No issues with stock Pieta nipples. I savagely abused a set firing corrosive caps, and though they still worked fine (but looked ugly),  I replaced them with more Pieta nipples, no problem.

Hi Sun, #10 for Pietta, #11 for Uberti. Remington #10 is larger than CCI #10 and they will work on some Uberti's.

Richard
