Hi, looks like the two $207 Uberti 1849 Wells Fargo have already sold out.

Hope it was a couple of our members that took advantage of this sale.

Regards,
Richard

Well, a big box for a tiny pistol came from Midway today.

Handsome little fella.

First time owning, or even handling, one of these so some things were new to me.

No spring on wedge.  Just a solid piece, friction fit.

Barrel does not want to come off.

Everything seems to be smaller scale.
Grip compared to a Pietta '51.

And an Uberti '60.

Nice touches include serial numbering grips to gun.

And factory removal of the razor edge of casting flash on grip frame.

Stagecoach roll engraving on cylinder with spot to put the s/n.

Trigger guard has some milled out areas.

As far as I can tell nothing protrudes below the frame when cycling the action.  I'm unsure purpose of milled out trigger guard.  Clearance for cap fragments?

Trigger configuration.

Hand.

Hammer is obviously cast.

Tiny full cock notch.

Compare cam to a recent Uberti '60.

When cycling the action while assembled it functioned ok except a couple times it over rotated.
Maybe this roughness in bolt slot in frame is partly to blame?

If I can ever get the barrel and cylinder off I may smooth this out....

There is but one lonely safety pin which at first appears to not protrude enough to function, but it does in fact work.

All this disassembly leaves me with a monolithic frame and barrel that REALLY do not want to come apart.  Some Kroil and some pondering to do...

Good looking little pocket, Dave! Looks like my Baby Dragoon...minus the loading lever.

Looks good Dave,  try running the barrel under hot water for a few minutes.   Without a loading lever it's hard to gain any leverage to force it apart.  May it will loosen up with some heat.

Maybe go at it with a loose-fitting piece of dowel rod down the barrel and a few taps with a hammer.

Hi Dave, you have a very nice looking Wells Fargo, congratulations.

wicket, I agree with you that a wood dowel in the barrel should do the trick.

Richard

Nice! Excellent photos. Congrats on getting it for a great price too. My 2015 Uberti Walker had a tight fitting barrel and the dowel down the barrel hit with a mallet did the trick. I don't know if it matters but I had the dowel contact the cylinder face between chambers rather than down inside the chamber.

Pondered several ways to get apart, including a cleaning rod down the bore but the dowel wound up working nicely.

After a light deburring it now cycles great.  I can cock it as hard as I want and get zero overtravels.  'Spose I should go shoot it before going crazy with mods like arbor length and cap rakes... :)

Well, you might get some extra clearance if you shoot it much before fixing the arbor. But, since it's a smaller scale, it's in effect "overbuilt"  for the charges. That said, it is important to do the arbor fix.
Glad it's functioning well. They seem to be popular as they trickle through the shop.
If you want to install a coil handspring in the frame, the screw hole is the location. You'll have to shorten that screw but it  works very nice.

Have fun!

Thanks Mike!  It took a while to determine that the arbor is, in fact , short.  The arbor to barrel fit is so tight (same on the other two Ubertis I got this year) that doing the "install the barrel 90° off and then rotate to see" is problematic.

I wonder if the cylinder gap would change if you sand down the arbor so it fits less tight?
