Hi Captain, you mention the Tower of Power. Yesterday I reloaded 6 (36 rounds) cylinders using my Tower of Power. It took me less than 15 minutes to reload and cap all those cylinders. The Tower of Power reloading tool is the best thing since sliced bread IMO.

Regards,
Richard

Yes, Richard, I watched a video on that one. Looked like an awesome addition to anyone's arsenal.

Hey, when you get to be as old as I am, you collect a lot of stuff! Many of the molds are variations of the same caliber; like 5 molds ranging from .360" to .390" round balls.

Ssb, be very careful with loaded and CAPPED cylinders. If dropped they can be very deadly. you probably know this, but just wanted to be sure.           Mark

Plus one on this. Most of my C&B cylinders are capped and loaded. I'm real careful with them.  ;)

Personally, I have never seen the need for extra cylinders.  I have yet to loose any of the ones in the revolver and when I need a fast reload, I draw a second revolver.

Me too,  I only have one spare cylinder.   It came with the revolver as a package deal.   I like the slower pace that loading on the gun provides.  Makes for a more relaxed shooting experience.   If I wanted to shoot fast I wouldn't have all these BP revolvers.

Me three.
I will admit to using a loading stand for the gun at times, but I do not own a loading press and probably won't. I shoot BP for fun and relaxation, not to see how much lead and powder I can burn through. I have cartridge revolvers for that.
One likes to get an historical feel for what it was really like back in the day, and reloading presses and Pyrodex pellets don't take me there. It's bad enough I have to shoot on a 'range' wearing modern clothing and driving there in a truck.
I watched a little oriental man shooting a big ol' Quigley Sharps BPCR rifle that was longer than he was, almost! He was shooting bench and I swear it took him 10-15 minutes to set up each shot, then he would stare WAY downrange with the spotting scope for a hell of a long time then scribble copious notes in his journal, followed by a furious swabbing of the bore.  He probably fired less than a dozen shots all afternoon, but he was quite intent on what he was doing, and hang the rest of the world! And I admired him for that. In his mind he was probably picking off redskins on horseback at 1000 yards or a big buff at half a mile. That's the zone I get in too, sometimes. That's what shooting BP is all about, to me.

Yep. Buff, bad Comanche’s, or sassy bandits downrange. That fella with the Quigley Sharps seems to have been into the Zen aspect of this black powder thing.  That’s what it’s about.

I made a loading press a while back; not as fancy as the Tower of Power, but it does work. I use it to reload my snubbie Remington '58 that doesn't have a loading arm.

Yes, you would need one for that.

Digging around the internet for ideas and suggestions, I always come back to
Colt and Remington forums. You folks always have an answer. So here I am on a

Begs the question , Mazo you got a gun for each ?

See where you stand in another five years  (7+"  Here's a tip for you. Never get rid of a mold because you think you won't need it anymore unless you just have duplicates. I had a 255 gr .45 ACP Keith mold and sold it after my 1911 was stolen because I didn't think I'd ever get another one. (price a 255 grain Keith sometime) and I got rid of all my .50 stuff when I moved up to .54 and said I'd never have another .50 unless it was given to me. Well a few months ago my exes mom did just that and gave me a St. Louis Hawken.

HAWG, I ain't lookin thet fer in future, 5 yrs seems short to me. The older I gets to
it the faster it gets.
Any way I shoot a .50 Hawken Great Plains and love it. Ram them .590 balls down the barrel
an watch em fly.
Hope you get another mold.
Interesting how every one, well almost every one, at the range stops and comes over to see what all the smoke is about. (7&

I used an Investarms .50 for over 30 years but when I got my .54 I didn't really want another .50. The only range I've ever been on was a CAS range. If I want to shoot I just go outside.

I think it would take more than a ramrod to push a .590 ball down a .500 barrel! *6' (jh
