Everyone who has replied so far feels the same way. We all share a very common interest here. Or have the same marbles missing. Practicality doesn't mean modern holsters are best. It depends on the intended use. It isn't 'practical' to get to a CAS match with your SAA in a modern rig. An 1860 is best in a holster of the cap & ball era. A WW2 1911 looks best in a correct web holster. A plastic semi-auto looks most appropriate in a pancake or Kydex.
