New gun, Nickel & Gold
« on: June 15, 2014, 03:37:05 PM »
I went to the gun store yesterday to find out the status on my C96, and this came home with me. It's a Pietta 1851 Colt Navy Lone Star Special Edition 1 of 2000 with a low serial number.

You do know if you shoot it the gold wash will blow off pretty quick, right?

I do now. It has been fired, I cleaned it, and may shoot it once. The gold is still in mint condition, and I want it to stay that way.  :)
I'm thinking of getting a spare cylinder for it just for shooting, and not using the gold cylinder.  ;D

sweet lookin gun man!  That's a good idea, get a regular cylinder sos you can enjoy shooting it, and keep the gold one for display.  I'm kinda glad that engraved remmy i got came with a spare cylinder, i don't feel bad about potentially scratching up one, lol!

Nice lookin' gun there Pustic! I don't usually go for the real fancy ones, but I just ordered a '58 Remmie that is engraved and comes with an extra cylinder.

I usually don't either, but the price was right and it kept calling my name. I did get a spare cylinder so I can shoot it and not ruin the gold on the fancy cylinder.  ;)

I like that 7 1/2 inch barrel on the 73. I wish I'd gone with the cavalry model instead of the 5 1/2 when I got mine.

I like the longer barrels, they make for better shooting.

During muzzleloading season, I carry a flintlock Pennsylvania rifle and a Remington Bison with the 12 inch barrel as a back up.

I've got a pair of these Pietta Pimp Specials and love them! Which reminds me, I've got some shooting to do!
