New Navy
« on: November 27, 2014, 02:42:32 PM »
Monday my new (2014) 1851 London Navy arrived. Uberti did a wonderful job on the fit and finish, only a few minor adjustments. I did add a cap pin (rake) before I ever shot it on Wednesday.
Will take care of the "short arbor" that these have, and add a bolt block and hammer stop like has been done on my Pietta Navy and my 1860s
Love my open top Colts

Last night, finished the last of the open top mods on my new London '51. I added a cap guard  (pin), before even firing it, next was a hammer stop and a bolt block. I did not shim out for the short arbor (.075) until shooting it some. It now has .003 barrel/cylinder gap.
Ready for that Wild Bill Hickok 75 yard shoot out or it would stand up to Hollywood fanning ! :-*

OK, pictures to follow. I tried and was rejected because the picture was "too large" and having problems with the old iMac I have a photo app on. Will try to set camera smaller and take something this week end.

The old Navy has been my companion, concealed carry under my winter coat for the last two years, whether working in the woods or going to an ATM.

That's a nice pair of Navies, but good grief, you gotta get a better concealed carry rig.
I mean, I personally wouldn't use a single action anything as a concealed carry, never mind a cap and ball, but if you simply must, there has to be something better than a full-flap holster.
I'll shut up now. f(*&

;)  I have been known to carry a single action ccw. Course it was designed around 1911......
