Remington Navy
« on: May 03, 2015, 07:22:56 PM »
I ran across this one in the local BP gun shop a few weeks ago.   I haven't seen too many of these so I had to go back and get it.   It's a Lyman made by Uberti.

I have a Lyman like that, ASP mfg'd. One of my finest. Is yours one of the smaller frame/grip sizes also?

Yep Capt.  it's the small frame.  I like the feel of it but it does seem small compared to the Pietta Army models that have.  Looking forward to filling it up and seeing how it shoots.

Medium frame Remington’s are really fine.  Historically accurate too.  Looks like a real beauty in those photos.

Parts listed for Uberti 1858 Navy would be what to look for.  VTI, Numrich, Taylor's should all have them.   I also believe that the internal parts are the same as the .44 cal Army model but I am not positive about that.   The biggest difference is not in the frame size but the barrel and grip frame.

Mike,
I always wanted to find one, Uberti that is, due it's smaller size over Piettas.
But after loosing interest in Remingtons I don't have any, any longer,
went strictly to Colts. Strange how I perceive  things. The main reason not wanting Remingtons
was their size, just wee bit big for my taste. Ha then I go and buy a 2nd model Dragoon, go figure.

I rarely find anything when I'm looking for it.   After I stop looking or lose interest they appear everywhere.    This one fell into my lap, I walked away once before going back to get it.   Just a few days after I bought it the BP shop burned to the ground.

Really nice pistol mike! I had one similar to it years ago, imported by Navy Arms. In my opinion, closer to originals in size that the Uberti or Pietta '58s. Like many of my guns, I should have never let it go.
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.
