Yeah, I think he has smoked well over 100 pounds of bacon in the last 2-3 years.....all kinds of spices and flavors.

I'm thinking of getting into dry-cured sausages. I need to buy or make a curing cabinet. Something like this...

Introduced one of my grandkids to shooting caplock shotgun and flintlock pistol and how to get the flint to spark. He liked that part, but not so much the cleaning.

My kids run and hide when it comes time to clean too.

We left home Saturday morning, headed south & west to ride through Rocky National Park, got there Monday at 2:00 pm, only to find out that one needs a reservation to enter. Of course if we waited till 3:00 we could go through, so we sat on the side of the road till 3:00. Spent Monday night in Fraser, CO, when we left Tuesday morning it was 42 degrees. Spent Tuesday night at Scottsbluff, NE, it was oner 100 when we got there. Tried to leave a little early this morning, but it's again over 100 degrees and tough riding (especially for an old fart like myself). Decided to cut the ride one day short, instead of going to Waterloo, IA to visit the John Deere museum we're going to b-line it back home to Minnesota. We're missing the humidity, NOT.

I was a little reluctant to go, wasn't sure how my C.O.P.D. would work in the high elevations. No issues. We did go to the Stanley Hotel at Estes Park, a must see if your ever in the neighborhood. Also the Scottsbluff National Monument. Tomorrow's ride home will be the longest day, 355 miles. It's supposed to be a little cooler, but the last two days were for sure total hell. I think the real long rides are behind me, unless I get a wild idea again.

I totally understand. I gave up riding year before last, and sold all 3 of my Harleys. Mostly due to health problems. It sucks.

Well,

We made it home. Woke up to 77 degrees with 88% humidity (it was tough breathing) in O'Neill, NE.
Hit the road at 7:00, as we rode into Iowa we noticed a haze in the air. Kept getting thicker and we could smell it was smoke.
I guess the north wind was dragging it down from Manitoba. The closer we got to home, the thicker it got.
I'd guess we probably have about 2 mile visibility. I think the humidity is lower though, no trouble breathing at home.
Here are a couple shots from the trip, my Heritage Softail loaded up at of Rocky Mountain National Park.
And a Stanley Steamer automobile at the Stanley Hotel.

Now I can relax, AntiqueSledMan.

How else can you read it? (7+" It was only one side of the staple but it was a 1/2 inch staple.
