We went to Bay St Louis the other day to pick up a dog and it was nice out. We came back yesterday and it turned cold and stormed most of the way. My wife wanted pics of the dogs on the beach so guess who got to be dog handler.

Picked up my buddy's ashes today for his wife. We'll deliver him to her on Sunday. We're skipping the urn and putting his ashes in an ammo box. His wife loved the idea. Right now he's in the gun safe.

Today was all about honoring my daughter.

Back in early October, she entered an essay contest through the VFW. It's entitled "Voice of Democracy" and the theme was "What makes America Great?" The prize for winning is a $30,000 scholarship. She wrote her essay and turned it in to the local VFW post for judging.

A few days ago, I got a call from the commander that Veronica had won the local and regional portions of the contest! There were just over 40 entrants. So today was the award ceremony at the VFW post. The Mayor of our town and the VFW commander presented her with her award. Her essay has been sent off to the state level, and if it wins there she's off to Washington D.C. for the national contest. We are very proud of her to say the least!!
