I kind of ignored the shingles vaccine until it happened to me last year. It was a fairly mild reaction (I had Chicken Pox when I was five) that was basically oriented to the left/rear side of my head/neck and produced pustules/scabs for about 2+ weeks. Lots of painful itch and the scabs were about 1/8" in size. Got one 6 months ago and it has not recurred. Fingers crossed.

I am not one to go to the Doc unless I feel I can't do without.

I am waiting until late Fall to get a Flu shot, my first ever. So far I have been lucky doing without, but this year is different. I don't need the Flu and possible Covid-19 at the same time, which would just be my luck.

You folks stay safe and wise.

I posted something similar to this yesterday but it was deleted.

Friday night at 2315 (11:15 PM for all non-vets), we were awakened by a low-flying helicopter (landing lights on) circling the house and then landing about 50 yards away from the house near the road. Less than a minute later two LE vehicles had blocked the road on either side of our property and two EMT vehicles arrived, one pulling into the driveway. I quickly pulled on pants, shirt, and shoes and went out on the front porch and watched events unfold. About 10 minutes later the patient was being transferred to the medevac helo. After the patient was in the helo, I shouted and waved to the many personnel onsite and a guy came running over to us. He was a Sergeant with the Pierce County (about 100 miles away as the crow flies) Sheriff Dept. who told us the patient was a young man who was somehow severely injured in the "woods" about 5 miles East of us. The medevac helo was supposed to land at the school (next to the Chehalis River) but the pilot decided it was too fogged in and found our hayfield next to a road, about a mile away.

At 2335 the helo lifted off and everyone else was gone in five minutes. I looked around and every house within sight was all lit up, probably wondering what the heck happened.

A once in a lifetime happening for me.

Regards,

Jim

Not a nice way to be awakened! Did you ever find out what "happened" in the woods?

No, I did not. I did ask the officer if the kid would be OK and all he said was "I think so". It was obviously pretty serious because the medevac transported him to a Tacoma hospital (Pierce County). He did not elaborate, and these days HIPAA regulations restrict patient info for the most part. I only know that because my entire adult career has been at hospitals as an HVAC/R tech and one is constantly reminded of HIPAA restrictions.

I have been looking for more info with online newspapers but have found nothing mentioning it.

Strange night.

I'm all too aware of those patient privacy regs! When my dad was moved to assisted living and I was TTEE, I couldn't even find out if his insurance was up to date. I did find that payment was made through automatic bank withdrawal when the first statement came.

Such is life these days when a direct family member is restricted. Sad.

I did that today too Em. I put my dirty .45 Colt cases in a jar of "Brass Juice" to start soaking for a day or so. Then they will go into the vibratory cleaner as well.

Made a pot of New Mexico Pinon coffee. Added a little vanilla stevia sweetener to it.

For some reason, you get the flavor of the pinon and the vanilla, then you get an after-blast of ground fennel seed.

You take a sip and it's like Pinon! Vanilla! Italian sausage!?! WTF!?!

I finally got a dry day and got the grass cut. In a little while I'm going to start digging out my reloading stuff.

Lucky man! My hair hasn't been this long since I was in high school. My barber called it quits after the lockdown.

I get my hair trimmed once in a blue moon but I haven't been to a barber since I was 15.

Today, I finally bought the vehicle I've been wanting for a long time. It's not brand new, but it's new to me. It was taken in as a trade at my wife's work. Low miles and the price was too good to pass up.

So here it is, Dad's new ride.
