Nothing worse that trying to work on a rig in extreme heat or extreme cold.
Good Luck. Stay hydrated.

Today, I built stone walls, along side the driveway and around the well.  Used 5 ton of flagstone.

Yes, this old man is tired!

Geez, even if I was able to do anything like that it would be impossible in this heat. We've been under an extreme heat warning all week. Heat index is around 115.

Our latest project,

The deck was there when we purchased the house.  We enjoy sitting out morning and evening and decided a roof would give us more enjoyment of the space.  It is all rough cut cedar from a local mill. And while my wife and I could have built it, it would have taken the better part of a month.  We hired an Amish crew who knocked it out in 2 1/2 days including the metal roof!  We have taken our morning coffee while it has rained and the sound on the tin roof was great.

Kevin, That is very nice. I imagine it would be very nice to sit under especially while it's raining. Have you been living there for awhile? Nice dog too. You mentioned an Amish crew, I would reckon that you are located somewhere in Pennsylvania but I could be wrong. Thanks for the picture. It looks nice and peaceful there. Happy Labor Day!

That's nice. I wish I had enough roof to cover the swing so I could sit outside when it's raining. My stepson came down from north Indiana and spent a couple of days. It was nice to have somebody to talk to face to face.

That's a good looking roof. A covered patio or deck is really a good thing to have. The tin roof is a nice choice. Those Amish carpenters do some good work.

We are in Ashtabula, County, Ohio. The northeast corner of the state.  Our Amish Community is about the 4th largest in the US.  Our neighbors are good folk, slow to accept new people, but good folks.

We have been here 2 years.  Not fully accepted, but “tolerated”.  Herself and I will die here.  It is a small farming community.  I have asked the trustees to post a new sign,

“Welcome to Hartsgrove!
Good bye”

Really not big enough to justify two signs!  I mean the only reason we have a traffic circle ( for as long as anyone can remember) is because the township is not big enough for a town square!

Ernie Ford sang about a hick town, “one filling station where nobody stops, a general store and a barber shop,…”, very much describes Hartsgrove!  We love it here.
