It's an Incinolet, an incinerating toilet. There is, of course, no water supply or waste drainage on a mining shovel, so they installed these. They incinerate the waste at extremely high temps. It is, frankly, a bad idea, due to the heavy jolting when the shovel works. They break a lot. All we do is ensure they have power. Everything else is someone else's problem.

As an aside, we have seven actual electricians on my crew, plus two interns and an apprentice.

Right now three electricians, both interns, and the apprentice either have covid, or are out on quarantine due to contact with the covid cases. We have two night electricians and two day electricians to handle the work of seven (interns and apprentices don't count).

Friends of ours have a cabin "up nort'"; they have a manual water pump.....and the incinerating toilet due to to their proximity to the lake.

The West Coast has lost its mind in all ways.

I guess you're glad not to using the ports of LA or Long Beach.

It was nice enough I guess. I was never fond of the Columbia class with the short sloped hood but with full air ride cab and suspension it rode soft and easy and with a 500 Cummins hills were not a problem.
